There was an estate sale and a craft fair in my neighborhood... I found a Miles Davis record at the Estate Sale, and while everything was super cute at the craft fair, I couldn't afford the $250 quilt that I wanted that had teapots all over it!!! One day it shall be mine.
Our adventures took us up the road to some vintage stores where I found some great vintage handkerchiefs and a Culture Club record. I found this vintage cocktail shaker that I just had to have. All in all it was a great day for a vintage haul.
The evening ended with my friend Joseph and I heading over to the Apothecary Lounge on the roof of the Hotel Parq Central where we enjoyed some amazingly delicious caipirinhas.

He lived in Brazil and Paraguay for a long time, and was happy to find a place in the States that served South American cocktails. We ended up leaving the hotel all freaked out because it used to be an insane asylum and we heard some scary ghost stories that sent us running home right quick!

We met up with Nick and another friend, Maria, and decided a donut and a coffee would be a perfect ending to the night.

Joseph had that huge Apple Fritter... the one across the table... which kept making me giggle because he is over 6 feet tall and born and raised in Texas... and you know everything is bigger in Texas... so even though that fritter looked huge to me, it was tiny when he held it in his hand. I kept laughing... Nick almost made me laugh my way off the chair when he asked if anyone had heard about a blog called the Feminist Ryan Gossling. We talk about feminist methodologies in our academic lives, but this grad student from the University of Wisconsin is using photos of Ryan Gossling to explore and work through these theories that we discuss as scholars... it's just hilarious because we have these alternate identities where we use language like this all the time, but in our lives outside of the institution, we would never speak this way... it just made me laugh until I couldn't breathe.

Those moments are the ones I cherish the most... when I can laugh with my friends and just enjoy the people in my life who let me love them.
